FCR 39 Info, Tips and Tricks:

DRZe intake boot (carb to head):

Here is the part number for the DRZe carb-to-head boot, and the clamp - just getting them is a helluva lot easier than making the stock fit...

'E' Intake Manifold: Suzuki p/n 13111-29F00, Pipe,Intake   $9.98
'E' Manifold Clamp: Suzuki p/n 09402-58208, Clamp   $2.51

Note:  You reuse that larger clamp from your current Z400 boot for the new DRZe boot, and the new clamp you just got is the same size as the large stocker.  The smaller stocker won't even go around the new boot, hence the need for that new clamp.

Throttle cable:

-  For No modifications to the stock throttle at all order the cable below:

Carb Parts Warehouse - (216) 635-1099
Stock Z400 thumb throttle to FCR
Part # 07-0774 Motion Pro control cable - $34.95

Just call them up and tell them what you want. This way you won't have to mess up your stock thumb throttle. Also, you may want to remove the spring in the thumb throttle housing to make it easier to push as the FCR has a return spring already.

Petcock:

Stock petcock left mine on prime.  The float will do it's job.  Turn back to "on" for the off position(no vacuum so it's off) when you need to pull the gas hose off.

Pingel Dirt Valve - outflows everything

They must have made a design change:  Mine looks like the finned on this page:

I noticed that they have a guzzler model for the RMZ now.  I would think this would still fit the Z.

Fuel Mixture Screw:

Zip-ty FCR fuel mixture screw- not necessary but very nice to have.

How to set fuel mixture screw:

With the motor running, turn the screw in until you almost kills the motor.
Slowly start backing it out until the idle evens back out.  If you blip the throttle right now, you'll notice it revving up higher than "idle," just momentarily, then coming back to normal idle - this is a lean condition, and it's  called "hanging idle."

Slowly keep turning it out until the hanging idle disappears - it idles evenly, and when you blip the throttle, it quickly returns to idle.

Adjusting the Accelerator Pump:

Not sure if the 39 is the same as the 40 but if you get a bog when you nail it from idle to WOT you may need to adjust your accelerator pump.

Take your intake boot off and look through the carb.  When you press the thumb throttle you will see the slide go up and a stream of fuel shoot through the carb.  This stream is your Accelerator pump.  Adjust the screw in or out until it shoots just as the slide passes the stream and see if this doesn't fix it.  I actually did it with my carb off but I've heard of others doing it with just the intake boot off.  No need to have it running to do this.  Just have the fuel line hooked up and turned on.

Here's a pic before the install....

Thanks to Normal, Clone, Blackkawi400, NJC, Alelks, etc.  There are probably others I missed, sorry about that…
